In this episode you’ll listen to lesson 1 of the 12th grade English course of the Ron Paul Curriculum. This American Literature course is taught by Dr. Gary North.

The 12th grade English course for the Ron Paul Curriculum is taught by Dr. Gary North. This American Literature course begins with translations of Spanish literature of North America in the mid-16th century. The course moves to Jamestown and New England in the 17th century and ends in the early 21st century.

12th Grade English Course Overview

The literature selected illustrates the fundamental religious, philosophical, moral, and in some cases political outlook of each geographical region and each time period.

When this course is completed, students will have the ability to understand why a particular region had a particular kind of literature written by a particular author. Students will have answers to those crucial five questions: “who, what, where, when, and why?”

In this 36-week course, students complete daily reading assignments and watch a video commentary on Monday through Thursday. Friday’s video will review the previous four lessons. The student will be expected to write a short essay on Friday about the main topic of the week.
